(Largely Ignored) Washington Politics
Even though the Louisiana Congressional Runoffs the other day got more national press than the Washingtonians still trying to decide on their Governor (Not Dog-Catcher. Governor.), a few blogs have apparently been relentlessly pursuing the truth and so on. Rather than steal all his hard work, I’m linking to Hamilton’s Pamphlets because he did a really nice job of listing all the Washingtonian bloggers who have bothered paying much attention to the crisis. (ahem. sorry.) So go there and click on his ads.
Anyhoo, he says this:
“Finally, where do I stand on the whole thing? I say bring it on! Sure the human error factor is worrisome, but I still think GOVERNOR ROSSI will come out on top. All bets are off if the Dems win on Thursday in the state supreme court and previously invalid ballots come in to play. However, this is exactly the kind of thing Washington (and in particular the Washington State GOP) need. Newt Gingrich and the Republican revolution came to pass because of just this sort of Democrat Double Dealing in an Indiana House race. I think that the bad behavior and lack of class shown by the Dems in the governor’s race will come back to haunt them in 2006 and in 2008. ”
And I agree. However, this isn’t just a party thing. Think about it. John Friggin Kerry won Washington by 53% to Bush’s 45.7%. That’s 147,219 more votes for Kerry. This is 147,219 more votes for a guy who couldn’t give a single straight answer for those answers he didn’t just lie about, never released medical records, wife never released financial records, never released military records, ran against a war-time incumbant president with an okay (not great but I’m blaming a lot of that on the Press Corps for Kerry Fan Club) approval rating and personal likeability who ended up winning anyway. So I would say that it’s safe to say most people that voted for Kerry in Washington are Democrats, Liberals, and hated Bush. Couldn’t stand him. Hated everything about the Republican Party. Etc and so on.
Of those 147,219 rabid Republican haters, 147,177 found it in themselves to vote for a Republican for Governor. Governor. Not Dog-Catcher. So the Democrats are going to get bit in the ass by Democrats if they steal the election from Democrats who thought Chris Gregoire was poor enough a candidate that they could bring themselves to vote for Dino.

Like me, a Dinocrat. Nice post. The good thing is that many papers throughout the country and Britain’s The Guardian is running the AP wire stories…
