Death and Violence and Terrorism, Oh My!
So, Chrenkoff entered the lions den of Sucky People last night, and added up what he saw.
2,642 stories about Condi Rice’s confirmation hearings, in the context of grilling she has received over the Administration’s Iraq policy
1,992 stories about suicide bombings and other terrorist attacks
887 stories about prisoner abuse by British soldiers
2,345 stories about President Bush’s inauguration, in the context of the President failing to mention the word “Iraq” in his speech, or indeed discuss the war
and on, and on, and on.
All this consistent negativism, it makes me think of Prêt-à-Porter: Ready to Wear, the movie, in which Julia Roberts and who, Tim Robbins, maybe? The two reporters, lose their suitcases and have to spend Paris Fashion Week in a hotel room. But they need to file reports, right? So they watch the news reports and report on that.
You can see how a hotel full of scared reporters, afraid to go outside, would turn on CNN and report on the stuff on the TV news, which would of course be violent, because of course that plays better on TV. Makes you wonder, eh?
