I will say, though, that I haven’t heard any actual historian so far compare Iraq to Vietnam. Nor, for that matter, Iraq to anything else. Military historians have been bobbing around comparing it to post-war Europe, or saying how it’s different from Vietnam. Personally, I think modern military forces are so much bigger, better, faster, stronger than even 30 years ago (we’ve all seen what they used as cell phones, for instance) that there’s just no comparison. But the Vietnam thing is simply absurd.
