I’ve been thinking about all this “Bush has to meet us halfway” = “Bush ain’t gettin’ nuffin’ from us” business. You know what I think it is? I think after September 11, everyone was feeling helpful, and everyone voted for everything (except Barbara Boxer), which took away huge political weight from them come this election. This election they kept trying to pin the problems on the Republicans/Bush, but because they voted for all of it, the argument didn’t really fly. So now they’re putting themselves against everything, even the good stuff, so they can make that argument come the next election.

Yup, being helpful and coming together for the good of the country is a huge mistake. That needs to be rectified. Sort of like this.
