Vodka Pundit – Obligatory Terry Schiavo Post

Eh, just read it.

My obligatory Terry Schiavo post? Well, something makes me very nervous about the idea that food is considered medical treatment. As we all know, parents can legally deny “medical treatment” to their children for religious reasons, but they’re put under an enormous burden of proof that it’s actually their religion dictating it (priests interviewed, etc) and not infanticide, right? So what, now parents can stop feeding their babies for religious reasons? See what I mean?

Update:

From Jews For Life:

TERRI SCHIAVO SAYS SHE WANTS TO LIVE! By The Empire Journal

Terri, 41, sustained serious brain damage in 1990 under mysterious circumstances.  After her husband, Michael received some $2 million in insurance money, after telling a jury under oath that he would take care of Terri “for the rest of my life”, he then ordered that she not be provided any therapy or rehabilitative services and petitioned the court for her death.

She left no living will.  After receiving the money, Michael Schiavo suddenly remembered that she had stated previously that she would not want to be kept alive by artificial means.

Hrmmmmm.

Update II: Her husband’s a registered nurse, and he was there when she had her heart attack? Assuming he didn’t kick her in the ribs too many times, she’s in this state because a lack of oxygen to her brain for too long, and not only does he know CPR, but he’s also a registered nurse?

Oh my gawd, the judge is legally blind?! How the hell does he know… Ergh.

Update III: The Beeb is operating under the misassumption that her deadbeat husband was in the room when the tube was taken out. He was not. Coward.

Update V – 3.19:

An Englishman’s Castle – Killing the ill.

On a more general point there does seem to be a rise in Doctors and carers who are prepared to advocate killing the ill and inconvienient. On one side there are many of us who say “Don’t ever let them keep me alive in that state, if I haven’t got enough strength to rollover for my trusty 12 bore then give me the drugs”. And on the other hand we seem to be killing a lot of people who haven’t made that choice.

Do you hate Nazis? Not a general disapproval and horror but real gut hatred? I don’t think many people do. I certainly didn’t. Yes, I knew what they did, on a personal note the Old Man suffered from nightmares all his life and probably died early from the horrors he saw and suffered. But that was his generation, he never complained.

A couple of years ago I had my RCOB moment about Nazis. We were in the Imperial War Museum in London and there was a Nazi film describing the T-4 Euthanasia Program As a German voice explained gently how these unfortunates cost everybody money and contaminated the blood, a picture came up of a youngster walking with a K-walker – a type of zimmer frame for the disabled. At the time the eldest Englishette was using a K-walker to get her up and walking. That bastard was suddenly describing my beautiful child and that is when I started to really hate, and I still do.

euthanasia.jpg This poster reads: “This person suffering from hereditary defects costs the people 60,000 Reichmarks during his lifetime. People, that is your money. Read ‘New People’.”
