The Australian – Bulgaria to decide on Iraq deployment

SOFIA: Bulgarian will decide later this month whether it will keep its troops in Iraq until the end of 2005, Defence Minister Nikolai Svinarov said on Sunday, after the eighth Bulgarian soldier was killed there on Friday.

8 out of 450. What a sweet country. But:

The opposition Bulgarian Socialist Party, which is leading in polls, has promised to withdraw the soldiers from Iraq if it wins the vote. Svinarov said he believed it “would be totally inappropriate to end the soldiers’ mandate now” because “we need to think of the pace of putting in place an Iraqi army and police force.”

What is with these socialist parties. Hey, whatever makes them happy.
