Praise the Lord and Pass the Remote Control
Michael Jackson verdict is in. I have done, if I do say so myself, a stellar job of avoiding all coverage of this (or as much as is humanly possible without moving into one of these).
Update: How anticlimactic. And what a freak show! Did you see the woman with the doves?!
Update II: Listening to Hugh Hewitt, I should probably mention that I think he’s innocent. No, I’m not a fan (not at all), and yes, I realize he’s a freak, and yes I get the difference between innocent and acquitted, and yes I think he’s innocent. If anyone really wants to know my brilliant reasoning, I’ll say, but otherwise I won’t bore anyone with any more MJ talk than is absolutely necessary.
Update III: To clarify (further) I still think he should have gone to jail.

Hmmm… a celebrity on trial in California, where there’s not videotape of him committing the crime? Whaddaya bet he’s found not guilty? I really don’t see why they’re having all this media hype over what is essentially a study in foregone conclusions.

Well, at least it keeps the little kiddums in the press busy and out of Guantanamo. If he’s found guilty, that’s a couple weeks at least of talking about how he’s doing in prison. I hear he’s going to be in with Charles Manson, and all the freaks that everyone wants to kill. If that doesn’t distract them, I don’t know what will.

But after the OJ trial result surely there must have been some suspense? I certainly can’t pick the verdicts of those wacky Californian celebrity trials.

Well OJ was different. The race card went a long way in Los Angeles in the early-mid nineties. There was a lot of anger at work against the LA “Man” back then. I think people have run out of grievances now, except for petty ones, and can do a better job of paying attention to the actual trial.
