So, the big report from Petraus on the future of, uh, everything, is today. A few things that made the circuitous trip around the inside of my head:

Instapundit (quoting a bunch of stuff from The Corner):

UPDATE: Silencing Petraeus! Well, the mike didn’t work, which the Limbaughs and Hannitys will have fun with. Plus this observation: “So you think technology is bad in Iraq? The U.S. House of Representatives can’t get the commanding general a working mic in Washington, D.C. . . . Completely embarrassing.”… And this: “If this were a hearing or speech in Iraq, this would be a mocking example of how badly things are going there, how inept the infrastructure and the people who run it are. But it’s not Iraq, it’s Ike Skelton’s committee.”

Wheat & Weeds – The Talismokingban

Apparently –no joke– the final straw for a lot of Iraqis in turning against Al-Q has been the latter’s attempt to ban smoking.

Hmm, we can’t get a mic to work, like the most failed of failed democracy-experiments, and we’ve banned smoking, so the most failed of the worst terrorist organizations to try to take over that most failed of failed democracy-experiments. Hmm…

A press release from “Thompson” (presumably Fred):

“MoveOn.org has today, in effect, said that the General leading our brave troops in Iraq is betraying his country. This is the group that funds the Democratic Party. I call upon the Democratic Party and all of the Democratic candidates for President to repudiate the libel of this patriotic American.”

Finally, “libel”. They’re saying something very specific there, to wit:

Power Line – Moveon.org hits the bottom

JOHN adds: A general who “betrays us” is a traitor, like Benedict Arnold. Now that it’s OK to question people’s patriotism, can we start with MoveOn?

Which follows a post originally by Paul which highlights the ad and then goes on to argue with the reasoning behind it. For crying out loud.

So, Petraus was confirmed 81-0, and just a few months later we’re being told he’s a liar and, evidently, a traitor with no patriotism which means who knows what atrocities and deception he had to commit to get those four stars. So does that mean we can throw all those Senators into the clink for willfully and purposefully putting the American people into such a dangerous situation?

Oh, and, all the other politicians who have, in a round-about way, admitted that they’re actually members of al Qaeda?
