Perhaps I should note that New Zealand coins (not notes) are legal tender in Australia, and, of course, vice versa.

They do turn up here and there. I once had an argument with a checkout chick who looked askance at a 5c coin I’d proffered – it had a picture of a Kiwi bird on it.
