The Daily Beast – Sarah Palin’s a Brainiac, by Elaine Lafferty (former editor-in-chief of Ms. magazine)

The Daily Beast – So Long, Democrats, by Wendy Button (Obama-Edwards-Clinton-Biden speechwriter)

(Brilliant line, but not intended to represent the point of either article so please do read the whole things: “This back and forth is posturing, a charade, and a political game. These lines are what I refer to as “hooker lines”—a sure thing to get applause and the press to scribble as if they’re reporting meaningful news.”

I wonder if it’s coincidence that both of them are women. Hillary-supporter Tina Fey had a line on 30 Rock last year (way before McCain won the nomination and when not everyone was sure Obama was going to pull it off either, which I think shows that she’s some kind of clairvoyant):

“There is an 80% chance in the next election that I will tell all my friends that I’m voting for Barack Obama but I will secretly vote for John McCain.”

So I think it’s interesting that she’s decided to embrace that 20% because of Sarah Palin, when Sarah Palin is the reason why women like these are going for the 80%.

Incidentally, just on Monday one of those casually-presuming rich Seattle Democrats (presuming that everyone around them is just as liberal as they are) asked if I’d seen Tina Brown’s new online magazine, and I sort of muttered on about Oh no, I don’t pay attention to that sort of thing (I do try to drop hints, but they do insist on continuing with their presumptions), not even realizing that it’s the same place that this Palin-is-a-Brainiac thing was rip-roaring all over the blogs on. Funny.
