They’re rewriting our song: “Clinton Clinton Bush Bush Clush-Binton-Blama” it’s all so confused!
WASHINGTON DC – Ending weeks of speculation and rumors, President-Elect Barack Obama today named Bill Clinton to join his incoming administration as President of the United States, where he will head the federal government’s executive branch.
“I am pleased that Bill Clinton has agreed to come out of retirement to head up this crucial post in my administration,” said Obama. “He brings a lifetime of previous executive experience as Governor of Arkansas and President of the United States, and has worked closely with most of the members of my Cabinet.”
Obama = Bush’s 3rd Term
The rational, cogent middle:
I have to concur in part and dissent in part from the commentary on the P-E’s cabinet picks and policy announcements. Yes, it is amusing that there are so many Clinton Administration re-treads and rumors of continuation of Bush policies; no, I don’t find it reassuring that the Obama administration will be moderate. I was a pro-life lobbyist during the Clinton administration and it wasn’t the least bit moderate. (Well, maybe Bill Galston. I’ll give them Bill Galston.) Does no one Clinton’s first moves in office were a handful of Executive Orders (which Obama will give us too) increasing the abortion license, followed by the effort to take over 1/3 of the economy (Hillary care) and the gays-in-the-military/women-in-combat putsch?
The latter two measures failed because of wise Republican manuevering (and Rush Limbaugh), and the backlash lead to the Republican Congress which foisted “moderation” on the Clinton Administration. Welfare reform and other “positives” of the Clinton era was thanks to Newt Gingrich and the Contract With America.
