Wheat & Weeds – Running Short On General Practitioners

By 2020, just when demand will spike, we’ll be short 40,000 primary care physicians, if current trends continue.

I’ve got an idea! Let’s demonize them as greedy blood-suckers, prevent them from making living wages, dictate how they can treat their patients, violate their consciences, but still sue the pants off them if anyone ever dies.

Because decreasing the number of doctors and increasing the demand for them will also make their fees lower and more affordable for all Americans!

(Kind of the same concept behind how prison populations affect crime rates. Just like the headlines always say, “Inexplicably, crime fall even as prison rates rise,” we’ll now see, “Inexplicably, fees rise as primary care doctor numbers fall.”)
