Great Moments in American Oration
I read this George Will piece that’s been going around and found it mildly amusing but not particularly earth-shattering in its brilliance. I don’t agree with the premise that nobody’s been paying attention to the contents of the Copenhaagen speeches. But whatevs. So then I return to my Google reader and see this go by:
LGF – Ready … Set … Now Count Those Words! (update)
Yes, people, LGF did just compare the Chicago Olympics pitch to Martin Luther King Jr’s I Have a Dream speech.
I think this proves Vanderleun’s point that he’s going after these topics on purpose. I can’t believe he blocked Tim Blair just for linking to him. All this time I thought he was just blocking trolls within his own comments section.

No, I got banned for making one comment (very politely) defending Robert Spencer.
I read in New Scientist recently (something I wouldn’t otherwise know) that modern ‘weed’ has been bred to the extent that it is far more potent than the weed of the 60s and 70s. So even a relatively light user today could be getting the dose of a real dope-head of yesteryear. And paranoia is one of the side effects.

What a peculiar tangent you seem to have gone off on, Brett. Oh well. Yes I have heard that too.
I saw him going off on Robert Spencer. What’s the there there?

I think the original problem was with Pamela Geller, but I only picked it up once Robert got involved. The bit I saw was CJ telling RS to delink some sites because they’re neo-Nazis. RS, having some respect for CJ’s judgement at that time, did. But then (after some emailing, presumably) he had another look at the sites and said “hey, wait a minute, these aren’t Nazis” and restored the links.
So that was it. RS left the reservation.

I’ve read old Pam’s blog maybe three times and wasn’t exactly impressed. So it didn’t surprise me when CJ started going off on her as a nut. She seemed a bit hysterical. Ballsy, though. Then he went after your RS too all of a sudden which I found surprising since RS never seemed particularly hysterical himself. But who knows, right? Then of course CJ went nuts. I still read him though. Or subscribe to him, rather, since I spend most of my time on my phone these days. I wonder if Google reader could still get through if he discovers this thread…

Yeah, the Pam blog is a little bit bright for my eyes, and the tone approaches hysterical at times – which I just assumed was a New York Jew kind of thing – like George’s parents, in Seinfeld.
