Look! It’s our old friend, the Pedant-General in Ordinary, writing at The Devil’s Kitchen!

Curtsy: Iain Murray at The Corner.
Leadership challenge just today in the Federal opposition ranks over this very issue. The pro-ETS (cap and trade) Turnbull kicked out in favour of the anti-ETS Abbott. Bishop remains deputy opposition leader. So yes, Abbott and Bishop. No word yet from Costello to say if he will challenge for Bishop’s position.
But, very good news! We now have a real Federal opposition.
Regarding the link and it’s term “CRUgate”.
I saw a better one on Tim Blair’s: “The CRUtape Letters”.
The P-G! Did he say, “Toodle-pip!”?
No, but I almost did! (And then I forgot, curses.)
I’ve been watching your Tweets go by, Brett and thinking I need to play a bit of Aussie politics catchup. Where’s Costello standing these days? Last I heard he’d been chucked over or stabbed in the back or thrown under a bus or some such infamy.
I’d save Costello before any number of polar bears.
Abbott is a solid fellow and will do a good job of holding back insanities (something the former opposition leader, Turnbull, was remarkably reluctant to do), but I suspect Costello will be back when it gets serious. (He wasn’t thrown under the bus – it was his own decision to get out, at least for a while. It’s not like the US Senate).
Ask Not for Whom the Tree Rings….
Brett, I SO need your country to be led by Abbott & Costello. See what you can do, okay?
Here, ninme. The man himself has just outlined the recent Oz political history.
RC2: It’s a conjunction of the stars that must not be denied. The campaign is underway.
Abbot & Costello. Oh my LORD I didn’t even think of that.
“The P-G! Did he say, “Toodle-pip!”?”
Not in the post, but I’d be delighted to here.
and I labelled it CRUdGate (do North Americans understand the term “crud” or is this lost in translation?)
My day is complete.
