Wasting Prii
Look, CW isn’t claiming to be one of the world’s top environmentalists. Yes, it’s a borderline totalitarian state when it comes to domestic recycling, and if it has tetchily turned off that sodding light in the coat cupboard once it has done it a thousand arsing times. But CW still can’t quite bring itself to be a serious proselytiser on these issues — mainly because it still feels a bit, to use the technical term, “wanky” about it, and tends to pronounce “environment” as “enviboment”, in a silly voice.
No such scruples with the Hollywood power couple Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher, however! They’ll bang on about the dolphins all the livelong day. CW was bemused, then, to note Moore’s most recent Twitter-post, on her 47th birthday present from Kutcher: “a new Prius!” What — the environmentally friendly electric car, so modish among the LA Greenerati? Yes. That Prius. Hurrah! The Moore-Kutchers are going to save the world!
But then Moore added, cheerfully:
“I traded in my 2004, now I’m rockin’ a 2010!” So, hang on minute — you got rid of a whole environmentally friendly car to get a slightly newer whole environmentally friendly car? When the dolphins read about that on Twitter, they’re not going to like it at all.
