South Dakota’s started a “24/7 Sobriety Program” that seems to be working well and is being copied all over the place. It makes people come in for twice-daily breath tests, wherein you actually have to show up, in person, every 12 hours, to prove you haven’t been tying one on (or making your 9-year-old get your car started for you or whatever). So one guy in line for the thing complains that it sucks because,

“People with a serious problem come in, they blow hot [positive], they can’t complete the programme and they just end up back in jail.”
