Hello! I still live! I think the Twitter thing on here has been mostly broken so I understand if many of you haven’t seen evidence otherwise but it is true, I haven’t disappeared off the face of the ridiculous little planet upon which we live.
See, and I’ve said this before, but there was a time when I thought we were living at the dawn of something changing but, nah, we weren’t. So now when sh*t happens I’m like, meh. I’ve said all there is to say about this by RTing something snarky somebody said in response to it on Twitter at 4 in the morning while I was up with insomnia. So writing out detailed reactions to things here is just too much work.
But, things have been happening and Twitter is crap as an external memory drive so, in no particular order, here’s the latest news:
A giant meteor hit Russia. This also covers the internet sensation of Russian dash-cam footage:
The Oscars are this weekend. Here’s the only interview you’ll need to see; Between Two Ferns, part 1:
And part 2:
Also, there’s been 100% horse meat found in some cheap frozen meals in the UK. Apparently it came from Romania, because of changes to road laws to get horses off public roads, which goes a small way in explaining where the horse comes from. I mean, there aren’t that many retired police nags or retired racing horses to go into that many frozen burgers, right? Anyway I thought the less appealing brands of dog food had the horse market pretty much covered?
Anyway, the best joke about this comes in the podcast extras at the end of this Radio 5 Live flagship film review from Simon Mayo, with Mark Kermode setting it up for him: Mark Kermode and Simon Mayo’s Film Reviews for Fri, 8 Feb 13 (featuring an interview with Gael Garcia Bernal about his new movie about Pinochet (the joke is at 1:35:00)
In food news, I want to recommend this salad from Jamie Oliver: Roast carrot & avocado salad with orange & lemon dressing
And um, more if I can think of it.
